Until now, there has been no way to access clear, consistent and validated information about the recyclability of specific packaging formats in each nation. In the absence of such a resource, companies have been unsure about the specific packaging formats that are recyclable and how various combinations of materials are likely to act throughout the recovery and recycling process.

This has resulted in a situation where businesses are reluctant to make claims about recyclability, often leaving consumers to make their own judgements about whether or not an item is recyclable. The revolutionary Packaging Recyclability Evaluation Portal (or PREP) aims to address this confusion.

  • Roll 'n' Recycle

Stand-up pouches (SUPs) are one of the fastest growing packaging formats due to their low cost and low environmental footprint compared to rigid containers. The one issue though is they are not recyclable at kerbside – until now!

Roll ‘n’ Recycle is a program managed by PREP Design, which licences a registered Trade Mark for use on SUPs to advise consumers how to recycle them at kerbside by rolling them up to form a cylindrical shape using the included Roll 'n' Recycle sticker.

  • Training & Consulting

PREP Design is available to conduct training on the use design of recyclable packaging using PREP as the tool of our trade. This training can be conducted in person or online dependent on the client’s needs.

Other trainers are invited to contact us if you wish to use the PREP for training and your organisation is already training commercial clients in packaging design.
